Mandalay Bay Events Center
Las Vegas, Nevada, AMERICA!
It’s fighting but on a Sunday. What better way to celebrate The Lord AND Memorial Day than fighting? Memorial Day is for all soldiers who died in combat. Veterans Day (everywhere I looked, Veterans Day is spelled like that but I think it should be Veterans’ Day, as it’s a plural possessive … NO OTHER FIGHTING WEBSITE STARTS OFF FIGHT COVERAGE LIKE THIS, FUCK YOU!) celebrates ALL vets, including those who made it through the war without dying. That’s your civics lesson for the day.
We’ll update this post with any news that breaks before Sunday. It’s an AWESOME card from top to bottom. The main-event doesn’t have a ton of sex appeal because they’re two up and comers as opposed to established vets but this is how you make guys new stars: you let great fighters main-event a show. Yada, at the bottom is nothing but the quick & dirty results.

(No way Sterling should’ve gotten two rounds)

PRETTY STACKED PRELIM CARD – Fox Sports 1 – 7/6/5/4
Erik Koch vs. Shane Campbell – Lightweight
(Note: Koch trains at RoufuSport with Daniel Wanderley, a friend of Mike’s. Just so you know where the bias may come from.)
Round One
- Koch briefly drops Campbell right away.
- Koch definitely quicker; lighter on his toes. The best he’s looked in some time.

- He doesn’t get it and Campbell shrimping to butterfly guard. Koch passing well but Campbell grabs a half guard at the last second.

- Campbell shrugs him off. Koch goes right back. REAR CHOKE AND IT IS OVER!!!!
Winner: Koch, R2, sub.
Should You Watch
Hell. Yes. Koch looked absolutely incredible here. Almost a flawless performance.
The Conjuring 2 looks like it’ll be dumb but I’m such a sucker for all things exorcism related. The commercial for “Asiana Airlines” however upsets me because it highlights a guy who is a “travel writer.” What a load of shit. Just fly around, visit places, and say, “Hey, I liked it because of X,Y, and Z.” Except Wikipedia exists so I can look up facts and all that.
I’m bitter I’m on a couch with a dog, I admit it.
Jake Collier vs. Alberto Uda – Middleweight
Round One
- Idea is Brazilian but looks like he’s Russian. For whatever that is worth.
- Uda quickly grabs a Thai clinch. He’s stalking forward and looks intent on imposing his Thai style.
- Collier with a great check left hook but then Uda lands a knee.
- That knee hurt Collier bad. He immediately checked his nose so that thing is broke.
- Uda tries to land some more but Collier with a good switch to get behind Uda!
- Collier selling out for a TD but using nothing but muscle didn’t seem to work. Shocker.
- Collier with a spinning backfist!
- They both look kinda slow, just from an athletic standpoint.
- Uda with a whizzer that briefly stops a TD but Collier sticks with it and ends up on top.
- Collier focusing on keeping the hips flat. Crowd is booing which is weird. Spoiled brats.
- Collier hitting elbows here and Uda is basically giving away the round by not tying to get out.
- That said, they scramble, Uda gets the back, then finishes the round on top.
Round Two
- Uda immediately clinches up here but Collier refusing to play the Thai game, adjusts his levels, and tries a single leg.
- Jab and left hook from Collierlanding off breaks.
- Spinning back kick from Collier looks like it hurt Uda.
- Then more punches. ANOTHER spinning back kick that drops Uda! IT IS OVER!!!
Winner: Collier, R2, KO
Should You Watch
Shit yeah, mother fucker! This was nothing short of awesome, especially the second round.
Whew. They too want to kill time. This works for me as I’m grilling steak. MULTI TASKING IS MY JAM!
Abel Trujillo vs. Jordan Rinaldi – Lightweight
Round One
- Trujillo showing quicker hands to start and … Wait, TRUJILLO IS A VEGAN?!?!? Fuck that. We all now root against him.
- Cain’s dead brother gets a TD. Doesn’t do much with it and Herb makes them stand.
- Rinaldi with two big left hooks, the second of which was big.
- Shot is sprawled out of with ease by Abel.
- Both are respectful. Not enough as Trufillo lands a nice right hand when Rinaldi got lazy walking forward.
- Close round but it seems as though Rinaldi is finding a bit of rhythm by the time it ends.
Round Two
- Quick TD from Trujillo right away.
- Rinaldi with a SUPER TIGHT armbar. Trujillo picks him up but Rinaldi doesn’t let go. Ouch.
- Abel manages to fend it off but that should keep him honest. OR WILL IT? Let’s keep watching and find out.
- Rinaldi with a big TD. Trujillo looks gassed. Back take. Rinaldi is trying to flatten out the UFC vet.
- Multiple RNC attempts here. Trujillos defending but that’s all he’s doing.
- Rinaldi doing a good job of keeping calm, not going crazy, peppering shots, and looking for the choke if it’s available.
- Body triangle.
- Abel is controlling the wrists and that’s saving him. Another choke attempt but Abel angles himself out of danger. 30 to go means this is just Abel holding on, waiting for Seth to save him.
For the record, my steak wasn’t all that good. It wasn’t bad but I expected more.
Round Three
- Abel out like a house of fire to start. Houses on fire are known for moving a lot, you see.
- Abel hits a straight right. And another. He sprawls off a Rinaldi shot.
- Rinaldi lands a knee as they stand.
- Rinaldi with a single leg, pushes Abel to the fence. Now switching to a double leg attempt. Trujillo defending and landing elbows.
- Rinaldi ducks under very well and takes the back.
- Trujillo shakes him off and with three minutes to go they’re throwing dead cow.
- Abel slams a right hook. And now a straight. An elbow misses by inches.
- Step in left hook from Abel lands. And another. Rinaldi is on LBGTQ straight.
- Left hook.
- Another one.
- Double leg from Trujillo with 70 seconds to go.
- Abel throwing punches here and there while burying his head in the stomach.
- Rinaldi almost hits a scissors sweep! (Almost)
- They’re up, a left hook from Trujillo. We go the distance.
- Fight wears close and round one will decide it all.
Winner: Trujillo, dec.
Should You Watch
It wasn’t bad but you’ll be ok watching RedTube instead.
Sara McMann vs. Jessica Eye – Women’s Bantamweight
Round One
- McMann has ridiculous arms. I’m getting older, or weirder, because arms like that are a turn on…
- (Respect women for Not Their Bodies, people.)(Sheesh.)
- One minute in and nothing has happened. And no one is saying “Boo Urns” either.
- McMann tries a shot but it’s stuffed. For now.
- McMann smothering Eye against the cage, trying for the TD, throwing the occasional knee. Someone will call this, “grinding.”
- McMann is simply leaning on Eye with all her weight. That has to suck. Ref should probably separate them though.
- And he does. Thanks, Juan Grande.
- They’re circling and doing nothing and they just said that Eye has thrown THREE strikes total so far. That’s … Wow. Over four minutes. (It may be landed strikes, I’m not sure. It’s not much.)
- OMG! I know, McMann is a great wrestler and so Eye is tentative but UGH! Horribly boring.
Round Two
- McMann over extends with a punch, Eye looks to slip and rip. Everyone is missing by just a little bit.
- 90 seconds in and guess what? YUP, NOTHING HAPPENING!
- Who needs Ambien when this exists.
- Eye with a nice sprawl on a shot that wasn’t set up at all. They hand fight for a moment and now continue to dance and shadow box.
- Now McMann is in, lands a right, and tying for an inside trip. She gets it!
- SOMETHING HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!
- Eye with a high guard. Eye eating some punches but the armbar is there. Nope, McMann felt it coming, avoided it, and is trying to drive her knee through for a pass.
- “McMann is a three time NAGA gold medalist.” Yeah, so am I. (Seriously.)
- Eye turtles up as McMann rides her and throws some hammer firsts.
Round Three
- McMann has her eye on victory.
- Eye.
- Because of Jessica’s last name.
- …
- THAT WAS BETTER THAN THIS FIGHT HAS BEEN!
- McMann with a smooth shot, passes to side control. Nothing will probably happen now.
- Turtle up, McMann back to riding and peppering. Ride and Pepper sounds like a great trolling t-shirt for wrestlers to wear.
- Eye trying to get up but she can’t. It’s ok, she isn’t getting hit or anything. She’s losing but … Oh, who cares? I wish life had a FF button, like in that Adam Sandler movie.
- Eye struggling, McMann riding and throwing light punches which were called, “Serious Power.” No. They are not.
- North south choke attempt now. It looks deep. Eye is grimacing. She survives. Because God hates us all and wants this to go the full 15.
Winner: McMann, dec..
Should You Watch
Never. It took a show of fun and made me hate my life.
UFC Fight Night 88: Almeida vs. Garbrandt – FREE LIVE STREAMING results
MAIN CARD – Fox Sports 1 – 9/8/7/6
Josh Burkman vs. Paul Felder – Lightweight
Round One
- How is Burkman still around? They’ve been pushing a “Where are they now” show on Fight pass, following the lives of former TUF dudes. It actually looks pretty cool. Anyways, the answer for Burkman is, “Here.”
- Sickening kick to Burkman’s body to start things from Felder.
- Burkman being cautious, probably using his “veteran skills” or whatever cliche you want.
- Felder firing off some ridiculously quick kicks to the midsection.
- Burkman wants to counter, methinks.
- “Felder can kick like a mule.” Remember that if you’re ever around a mule: they might spin around and kick you.
- Both guys landin some hard strikes, with Burkman a little better on the inside.
- They’re just throwing down like fucking idiot warriors and it’s awesome!!!!
- Felder getting the better near the end and so Burkman shot a double.
- HAHAHA! Stann said, “Veteran move.” Called it.
- Felder wall walks to his feet but Burkman holding on to the body, refusing to let go, and eating time and maybe winning the round in the process.
Round Two
- Disgusting leg kick from Felder.
- Felder missed a kick to the head by inches.
- Felder tried to hide behind a double jab but Burkman used some of his VETERAN EXPERIENCE to time it and avoid the right hand that followed.
- Right hook from Felder sneaks in. He’s definitely doing better here in that Burkman is avoiding damage but isn’t effectively landing much.
- Felder with a short elbow from the clinch. Burkman trying to get behind, lower his hips, and send Felder for a ride. Will he or won’t he?
- Felder lands a right. Now a left hook and that hurt Burkman. Burkman just rests his back to the fence and throws back to stifle things for a moment.
- Burkman now on the hips for a TD. 30 to go in the round and probably Felder’s.
Round Three
- Felder showing a sense of urgency right away. He’s an aggressive man in the first minute. … WHat does that even mean?
- Burkman is staying at distance and throwing potshot kicks.
- Felder with a spinning kick. It lands but he also fell on his ass.
- Felder with a right hand counter. Burkman swallows it well (that sounds gayer than “eats it” hence my using the gayer term).
- Burkman is in there, he isn’t getting blown out, he really IS a veteran but it feels like he’s slowly losing. Not by much and the last 230 could decide it all but it’s one of those deals where the mind is willing but the body isn’t there.
- Felder blisters an outside leg kick.
- Burkman hides a shot well, Felder stuffs it, lands a knee, and keeps it on the feet.
- They’re clinched against the fence and none of us are winning as a result.
- Felder connects with a short elbow. Burkman with double under hooks as the clock tells us there are 60 seconds to go.
- Burkman with a TD as the bell sounds.
Winner: Felder, dec.
Should You Watch
NOPE! Wasn’t horrible or anything but it was boring and you won’t want to watch it. Here, look at this hot chick instead:
Jorge Masvidal vs. Lorenz Larkin – Welterweight
Round One
- FUCK! I remember watching Masvidal YEARS ago, well before UFC and Strikeforce, and thinking, “He could be something awesome.” Now: he’s younger than me and always will be. I hate getting older.
- Larkin coming forward early, throwing occasional leg kicks. Those kicks may be his path to victory.
- BIG kick to the body from Larkin. Masvidal grins, which is code for, “Ow.”
- Larkin looked for an overhand right off a jab but as ideal rolled with it.
- Masvidal usually prefers to box, almost in a Diaz style, but Larking doing well to stay out of range and throw leg kicks to disrupt the rhythm of Jorge.
- Masvidal initiated a clinch against the cage and then steps back lets his hands go with a combination.
- Close round as Larkin is visibly coming forward.
- Oh. Fuck. Masvidal didn’t just get poked in the eyes but got poked so hard that he literally jumped in the air, spun around, and dropped to his knees. That must have been soooooooooo fucking painful.
- But, Masvidal is OK. He will continue.
Round Two
- Masvidal gets kicked in the mouth. Isn’t fazed. Phased? No idea.
- It’s basically Larkin’s kicks vs Masvidal’s punching and boxing. Masvidal doesn’t have enough diversity in his striking, tbh. Larkin, thought kick heavy, still throws enough punches to keep things honest.
- Larkin initiates a clinch. Double under hooks. Stann said he’s “way too high” so, yeah, MR.ARMY doesn’t know how under hooks work, I guess.
- Masvidal coming forward but he’s eating leg kicks in the process.
- Clinch time. It’s ok to be bored, no one is watching.
- Larkin with a left hand. Then an uppercut. Masvidal doesn’t appear hurt but these are points for the judges. Maybe three or four points per punch, at least.
Round Three
- Masvidal has a very sweaty ass. What? You find me a site that provides that kinda detail, I dare you.
- Larkin with a kick to the liver and I guess Masvidal doesn’t drink like I do because he’s still alive.
- Masvidal momentarily has Larkin near the fence. He lets his hands go, finally. Larking has had enough, does a lazy shot, pushes against the cage, Masvidal grabs a guillotine.
- Larking escapes, lands several punches of his own. This has been turned up and is awesome.
- Another guillotine from Masvidal but Larkin scrambles out. Masvidal is on the hips though and is getting ready to HULK UP for a takedown.
- Larkin pummeling in to get leverage and stop the TD.
- Masvidal had a TD for about 1/3 a second. He tried very hard to get the back.
- Masival got lazy and walked right into a big punch.
- Clinch time!
- Thi has been an even fight, though I suspect Larkin will win. Last minute might not decide it but it’ll help me decide if I hate their souls or not.
Winner: Larkin, dec.
Should You Watch
Eh. It wasn’t bad but except for the third round, which had some moments of fun, it was somewhat plodding. RedTube instead.
Chris Camozzi vs. Vitor Miranda – Middleweight
Round One
- I have NO interest in this fight, for whatever reason.
- Chris is off first, pressing Miranda. Miranda throwing jabs to the body here and there, but he also seems content to circle.
- I’m trying hard to find something to write but this has been boring.
- Miranda throwing kicks to the leg. He then catches a kick from Crhis. Chris counters and rolls into a heel hook attempt. They’re playing footsie now.
- Both striking from the 50/50 position.
- Round ends. Eh…
Round Two
- Chris catches a leg kick, holds it, pauses, contemplates life itself, then sweeps Miranda to the mat.
- (Lots of things happen in fighting that you lay people don’t see…)
- Chris riding the Brazilian, peppering. Like the McMann fight. (That’s code for: boring.)
- Miranda wants to stand but Chris is bringing the hips up and refusing to allow a stand up.
Round Three
- Herb Dean has decided to check the status of Miranda’s eye. He had five minutes to do this but chose to wait until JUST before the third round started.
- Miranda aggressive to start. Chris backs away.
- Chris gets behind, lifts slams, and is behind Miranda.
- Miranda may have a Kimura attempt but Chris bases well and has stifled the Brazilian’s attempt at Winning. Sorry, dude. You still have Zika.
- Miranda skips his hips to butterfly guard but with only 3 minutes to go, let’s see if it works.
- Oh. Hey. Theyr’e up. Guess it did.
- Yeah, nothing is happening. Miranda seems to know he has lost and is a bit more aggressive but he’s also tired and Chris WANs to dance around to win the fight.
Winner: Camozzi, dec.
Should You Watch
If you do, I hope you never come back to this site again. Let’s look at a cute dog instead.
Tarec Saffiedine vs. Rick Story – Welterweight
Round One
- My prediction: this goes the full 15.
- Tarec on his heel. Story trying to bull a TD.
- Story still intent on that TD. Tarec fighting it off for all he’s worth. FOOD FOR HS FAMILY IS ON THE LINE!!!!!!
- Or not. Maybe he has good investments.
- Shit. The round ended and NOTHING happened. Story hit some punches to the belly. That’s all.
Round Two
- Not much happening here. Story has a single leg but can’t finish.
- Tarec with an isolated kick. Story does one of his own but it was the MMA fighting equivalent of your GF kicking you.
- Story trying to grind out a TD. That is code for, “THESE TWO ASSHOLES ARE NOT DOING ANYTHIG VIOLENT!!!!”
- Clinch. Guess what? Yup. Nothing happened.
- Tarec tried a kick to the head. He missed. Hence my lack of happiness.
- And this show had started out soooooo awesome too….
Round Three
- Story waddles forward like a fat guy then throws some punches to the body.
- Story is for sure the more obviously aggressive fighter. Even though this has been kinda sorta 100% boring as shit.
- Guys, I won’t lie: this is boring. They took a show that was awesome and slowly broke my will. This is how we got terrorists to give information, I’m sure of it.
Winner: Story, dec.
Should You Watch
Only I you hate yourself. Look: BOOBS!!!!!!
Renan Barão vs. Jeremy Stephens – Featherweight
Round One
- You think Barao knows his nickname in English is “Baron?”
- Stephens is clearly bigger.
- Barao catches a leg and throws a combination off it.
- Stephens seems to be loading up for a big strike.
- Barao with some nice leg kicks here.
- Baron shoots but Stephens stuffs it with ease.
- EASE!!!!!!
- Both guys are content to throw strikes but then back away. This has favored Barao so far.
- Stephens winning clinch work but not to the degree any judge will care.
- Stephens EASILY stops a TD from the Brazilian. Suck to not kno how to wrestle…
Round Two
- These two SOBs have decided to just throw like madman 90s seconds into to round 2. It’s awesome. Barao fending off a. Stephens clinch after all that action.
- Spinny kick from Barao. It missed but he at least exposed us all to ballet.
- Barao with a takedown at the 20 second mark. It was for no purpose as Stephens stood up w ease.
Round Three
- Stann spouting all kinds of BS cliches. it’s a CLOSE FUCKING FIGHT. If you think someone is robbed or whatever, then you area a stupid, stupid man.
- ONE MINUTE TO GOOOOOOOO@@@@@
- Proof yoursel, little Brazilian dude. Apparentten lbs means A LOTL
Winner: Stephens, dec.
Should You Watch
I won’t lie, I have so many substances in me that it is all awesome and also bad. BUUUUUUUUt: I don’t think there was a ton of action.
Thomas Almeida vs. Cody Garbrandt – Bantamweight

Winner: Cody, R1, Ko
