‘Member way back when, with way back when meaning a few weeks back, when Bellator scheduled Fedor to fight Matt Mitrione?
‘Member way back when, with way back when meaning a few weeks back, when that fight fell through at the 11th hour?
If you don’t, that’s ok because they’re gonna do it again. Or at least try to do it again as the two will be the “co” main-event of the same PPV that Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva.
Madison Square Garden will be the location and in a sad, sad way I think this will work. I can just see the uneducated mainstream lamestream media falling for the canard that Fedor is G.O.A.T. and now he’s in MSG and isn’t this historic and stuff like that.
I’m sure Bellator will load up the show with a ton of dudes and possibly dudettes to make for a good PPV. It’s kinda weird that this is a PPV when they were willing to put the same fight on for free. That’s kinda shitty in a way, as it’s like they’re saying, “OK. I know this fell through before when it was free so now we’ll make you pay for it. Aren’t we swell?” It’s the bizarro version of when Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz 2 ended in a shitty fashion on a PPV and in response the UFC put the third fight on Spike for free. Intelligent people will recall that said third fight ended up being one of the most watched fights in UFC history and even beat the World Series in the ratings which netted them some valuable exposure.
But I’m sure a PPV will engender good will amongst all those poor bastards who bought a ticket to the last show and got fucked over and now they’ll have to pay again and as an added “fuck you” they moved it from CA to NY – the furthest away they could realistically make the fight.
And exhale.
