The Intern is coming. It stars Robert DeNiro in a role he may have (for once) taken without the only goal being a paycheck. And it stars Anne Hathaway, who will likely not be topless in the film. Yes, that’s sexist but she’s been topless in many films and it adds … gravitas.
Anyways. He’s an old dude interning because he wants a job or something because he’s bored with retirement. Personally, I wouldn’t trust someone who thinks sitting on their ass and sipping booze whilst watching TV isn’t enjoyable, but that’s me. She’s the young hotshot up and coming mover and possibly shaker who started the fashion magazine he’s working at. She’s also gay (I made that part up). He will teach her his old man ways and that there’s more to life than work. She will teach him how to use Twitter. Maybe help him loosen up and embrace his impending death. He may even find a lover – not her, she will inevitably be a stand in for a daughter he probably never connected with – as he’s a widow.
The Intern is directed by Nancy Meyers. She directed The Parent Trap (?), What Women Want, and Something’s Gotta Give – so you kinda get an idea of where she’s going to go with this. It comes out September 25th and will probably be a good movie to see whilst that fat pig sleeps off his latest all-nighters.
