Let’s all do hyping and getting ready for tonight and the debut of The Ultimate Fighter season 22 Team McGregor vs. Team Faber. Naturally, the stakes this season are higher than ever before with the winner not just receiving a UFC contract but a guarantee of $5,000,000.00 per fight.
That may not be true.
Faber has been there done that whereas is concerns coaching this show, as he coached the live season opposite Dominick Cruz. McGregor has basically said he doesn’t give a crap about the show, had no interest in coaching, barely showed up, let his hand picked coaches do the work, and recognizes his job was to attract eye balls. He’s not wrong. There’s no way to really teach anyone anything useful in six weeks (and considering that’s the entirety of the season, most guys would have to learn something in probably 1-3 weeks).
What’s even better is the two coaches seem to get along a bit, with neither seeming to have much animosity – and this is McGregor who practically creates heat with everyone he’s ever met. I’m pretty sure he’s taunted his own mother just so he has a back up fight in the works.
The tension seems to be between Faber and Cruz, who still hate each other. McGregor is focused on the Aldo hype but has something brewing a little bit with TJ Dillashaw if his comments are to be believed. (And why wouldn’t you trust Conor…)
The show will be … the exact same show you’ve seen for a decade now. But it’s a way to kill time on a random Wednesday night. Until tonight, presented without commentary, a random collection of Ultimate Fighter 22 videos. You click. You watch. You sigh and pretend it’s all real. Dammit.
