A rematch of a match that never actually happened will happen until it doesn’t happen. UFC has announced that Jose Aldo will defend his World Featherweight Championship against Conor McGregor on December 12, 2015 – approximately 2015 years since Jesus died for our sins and so we can have this fight. McGregor will also presumably be putting his interim featherweight title at stake, as it would be odd if he didn’t.
The two were famously set to fight before Aldo had a nagging cough – the kind that doesn’t go away – and it broke his rib in 15 places. Chad Mendes stepped in on a moment’s notice before he was KOd in the 2nd round by the brash Irishman.
All Irish people who are good at speaking are “brash.”
This puts to bed the rumors that someone probably just made up for shits and giggles that UFC would do a double main event with this and a Ronda right and fill out Cowboys stadium. Instead, this fight is in Vegas and Rousey vs Boobs McGee fight will likely also be in Vegas on a later card.
No word, as of yet, on when Aldo will pull out but one suspects Frankie Edgar is going to be booked on the same show. The Aldo v McGregor date is officially December 12, 2015: shout it from the heavens.
It’d be funny if McGregor pulled out and Aldo tried to talk shit.
