Ed in San Antonio presents PART 4 of the SHIMMER Chicago Road Report – The Finale
This is the last part of the road reports, I promise…
Intermission ended with me going to get a couple pieces of pizza and a bottle of water, a bottle that later on would play a major part of this taping.
Lufisto defeated Amanda Rodriguez
- This was ADR’s first match of the weekend and I think her second match in Shimmer. She did a really good job here and she is one of the nicest people you will meet. She always takes a few minutes to talk to me when she has a chance.
Nicole Matthews defeated Rhia O’Reilly
- This was great; just two dirty heels going at each other. Leader-taker on the other days mentioned that Saraya Knight was not there and this did not sit will with Saraya’s tag team partner Rhia. Every match Rhia was in over the weekend she got louder pops as she come out, and with this time being the default baby face, the place went crazy.
Allysin Kay defeated Xandra Bale
- For the most part this was a squash match as Allysin pretty much dominated. I like that TNA doesn’t keep Allysin, Cherry, and Mia from appearing on these shows and DVD’s.
Arisa Nakajima defeated Shazza McKenzie via bridging German suplex
- Arisa was excellent all weekend long and Shazza really upped her standing this weekend as one of the top wrestlers in Shimmer.
Kimber Lee defeated Thunderkitty
- Both wrestlers came out with giant flowers in their hair and this did not sit well with them as the whole match saw each of them trying to rip the flower out of each other’s hair. Kimber came out as the winner.
Shayna Baszler w/Nicole Savoy defeated Mia Yim w/EdInSanAntonio
- Nicole accompanied Shayna to the ring bring with her a stool, water, towel and every thing that a good UFC corner man would bring to the ring. Mia came out and wanted some of their water but being the rude mean heels, they refused her. They were having a really good match until you could tell Mia was becoming very dehydrated and rolled out of the ring and was on the verge of passing out when she asked if anyone had any water. This is were I sprung into action and jumped up and handed her my water bottle! I become her official water boy for the match. I got her hydrated and ready to get back in the fight, a fight she would have won if not for that cheating Nicole helping Shayna get the win, and the two beat down Mia after the match. I was sad Mia lost but I leave knowing I saved her life from almost dying. (Yes, I just totally exaggerated that whole thing but its my road report damn it!)
Courtney Rush defeated Vanessa Kraven (with Tessa Blanchard), Viper and Nixon Newell
- All I could think of seeing these four in the ring was that old Sesame Street song, “One of these things is not like the other.” Nixon looked very out of place in the ring with these monsters but she did a great job and the match featured big face-offs between Viper, Kraven and Rush.
Nicole Savoy retains the Heart of SHIMMER Championship over Kay Lee Ray
- One of the best match’s of the weekend, these two could have a match with a broom and it would be awesome. They are just that damn good. Shayna came out with Nicole and helped her throughout the match and they beat Kay Lee Ray down after the match. The two of them were becoming a monster team and more was still to come.
Team Slap Happy defeated Yumi Ohka and Melanie Cruise to retain the SHIMMER Tag Team titles
- Team Slap Happy showed why they are the greatest team not just in Shimmer but in the world. Have I told you how much I love Evie?
Main event time and all kinds of shit happened here:
- They start to introduce Kellie a couple time but she never comes out. Then Tessa and Kraven appear holding a knocked out Skater on her shoulder. They drop Kellie’s lifeless body on the ground and Tessa claims they just found her like that, but since Kellie can’t wrestle she should get the rematch since she defeated all her opponents this weekend including a solo win against LuFisto.
- Madison came out and we have a match that lasted about 5 seconds before Madison killed Tessa and Kraven had to carry her to the back. Madison said the people deserve a real match and for a real opponent come out. She is then jumped by Shayna and Nicole and they beat her down destroying her knee with a baseball bat. When they are done everyone is in shock as Mercedes Martinez‘s music hits and she comes out and defeats a wounded Madison to become the NEW SHIMMER CHAMP and celebrates with Shayna and Nicole and Shimmer will never be the same again.
Summary: After the show everyone made their way to the after party and I got to have drinks with Kay Lee Ray and Rhia and talked to a bunch of the other wrestlers. I also got to see Viper out of her gear and in her normal clothes and for a big girl she is amazingly beautiful. As the night ended, I said goodbye to Mia and told her about my plans for WrestleMania next year in her hometown. As I called my Uber I saw Dave Prazak and went over to ask him how he was doing and he joked he would know after he figures out everyone’s pay later just how upset he would be. I then told him how AWESOME the tag title storyline was and I heard Kimber Lee say that it wasn’t so awesome for her. Dave then tells her to check out my Team Slap Happy shirt and I added, “It’s autographed too.” I turned as I saw my Uber pull up and when I looked back a very angry Kimber Lee was running at me with a sharpie in hand, and my last memory of the weekend is screaming like a little bitch as Kimber Lee punked me out. I couldn’t ask for a better ending.
Until next time… SHIMMER~!
