This week’s Fire Pro Podcast is all about the PRO WRESTLING VIDEO GAMES we grew up on in the late eighties and early 90s! We first talk about some of the earlier games before WWF came on board, such as Pro Wrestling and Tag Team Wrestling, then go on to WWF WrestleMania and WWF/LJN’s relationship, as well as the Super Nintendo games, which all kind of blend into one (Mike: curiously, never about the TNA video game. Hmmm…).
We also talk about Wrestlefest and memories of playing games at arcades, which used to be a thing back in the day, and why some arcade games don’t translate well to home consoles. And yes, for the first time ever, we here at Fire Pro Podcast will actually talk about Fire Pro Wrestling, what we love about the game and how influential it was to other games we’ll be talking about on future shows. During that talk we’ll across one Fire Pro Wrestling game’s story mode that involves a sad ending, as well as one of the few licensed titles featuring AJW wrestlers.
We finish up with Midway’s WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade game, with its weird endings, particularly the one with Shawn Michaels, which you have to hear as it’s a doozy. All this and much more this week on the Fire Pro Podcast!
