According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael the early Floyd Mayweather vs Berto PPV Number for Mayweather’s last fight is in: 550,000.
Sure. He fought a no one but the Mayweather vs Berto PPV Number results from a fight that was still in Vegas coming off the biggest PPV of all time. And: he did HALF what Ronda Rousey did when she fought someone with even less of a name while on an entirely different continent. Asked for comment, Rousey responded:
This may all be inaccurate. Maybe it comes out that it’s actually 5,550,000. I doubt it but who knows. I think people releasing PPV numbers just make it up most of the time anyways. But I want to live in a world where this is true. At $75 a pop (!) the PPV would’ve brought in roughly $40 million, half of which goes to the PPV companies. And Mayweather had a guarantee of $32 million so: OOPS!!!
But, on the whole, not a bad year for Mayweather: he just has to ignore that he’s not a draw – the mainstream hype machine of “fight of the century you can’t miss” is a draw. I guess his drawing power can now be described as a “Draw Nothing Bitch.”
