Dana White was on TV (ESPN? FS1? One of those). He talked about the whole Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor thing that’s been in the news.
Again.
We covered this before. It ain’t happening. Ever. This doesn’t stop the speculation and Dana did his best to add just a little gas to the fire.
White was on The Herd (oh, that’s FS1) and said that he’d pay each guy $25m and then presumably a 50/50 PPV split. And Dana even kinda confirmed that it would be a boxing match. He did so after also noting that Conor is a certifiable draw and Mayweather’s last fight drew very, very poorly.
“To think that you’re the ‘A’ side? How are you the ‘A’ side? The last major fight that you were in, you left such a bad taste in everybody’s mouth, nobody wants to see you again,” White said. “His last fight did 350,000 pay-per-view buys. Conor’s last (two fights), Conor did 1.3 and 1.5 million buys, so I don’t understand you think you’re the ‘A’ side. There’s a reason you want this Conor fight so bad, because you know that’s your money fight.
“If they’re going to box, Floyd looks at this thing like an easy boxing match for him, but Conor McGregor is his money fight.”
See. I didn’t make it up and that helped pad this post. Grady and I talked about this in detail on the last episode of MMA & STUFF. I concluded it was good for all that they talk, that Floyd would benefit big from the fight, and that it – to be clear – WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER FUCKING HAPPEN.
