On last night’s season (and one hopes, series) finale of The Ultimate Fighter, Sijara Eubanks beat Roxanne Modafferi. That sucked, because Roxxxy is such a sweetheart and deserves the chance to fight other women inside cages for money. This mean that Eubanks would fight Nicco Montano for the first ever UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship.
Then Eubanks missed weight and so Foxxxxxxxxxxxxxy gets a title shot! YAY!
I’m approximately 10000000% more interested in this show now, because, honestly, no one really knew who the hell Eubanks was in the first place, but all good and honest people know and love Foxxxy.
The only real downside is I can’t make the same dumb and uninspired sriracha joke – I know, you’re all devastated and sad. An upside is that the UFC has once again created a weird situation surrounding a title fight. Fucking win-win if you ask me.
I’m excited for the opportunity. I also hope Sijara gets better quickly. A weight cut to the point of hospitalization can be serious. https://t.co/l0pjDgV4mw

Because Roxxxy is the nicest human being of all fucking time.
By the by: every single human being who has followed MMA for a long time will be rooting for Roxxxy. I don’t know if there’s anyone in the sport more admired and respected. She’s like Derek Jeter, just without the history of sleeping with models and then giving them gift baskets. She’s also tougher.
This is the company’s statement on the matter, which I’m publishing not at all to fill space:
“Due to medical issues, Sijara Eubanks, was hospitalized Thursday morning and has been pulled from her bout against Nicco Montano at Friday’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Stepping in for Eubanks to fight in the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight championship bout will be Ultimate Fighter 26 semifinalist Roxanne Modafferi.”
And thus here is the final card:
- Roxanne Modafferi (124) vs. Nicco Montano (124.5) – for inaugural women’s flyweight title
- Sean O’Malley (135.5) vs. Terrion Ware (136)
- Barb Honchak (125.5) vs. TBA (seriously, they’re gonna find someone?!)
- Gerald Meerschaert (185) vs. Eric Spicely (185.5)
- DeAnna Bennett (126) vs. Melinda Fabian (126)
- Brett Johns (135.5) vs. Joe Soto (135)
- Montana De La Rosa (125.5) vs. Christina Marks (125.5)
- Ryan Janes (185) vs. Andrew Sanchez (185.5)
- Karine Gevorgyan (130) vs. Rachael Ostovich (125)
- Ariel Beck (125.5) vs. Shana Dobson (125.5)
- Gillian Robertson (125.5) vs. Emily Whitmire (125)
