Kevin Randleman has passed away. His death was confirmed by a family member on Facebook. While I hope to hear otherwise, it sounds legitimate.
Randleman was one of the greatest wrestlers in MMA history. He was a physically gifted man whose career included multiple NCAA championship wins, a famous knock out of Mirko CroCop, and winning the UFC Heavyweight Title.
But, honestly, while I could write all day about his in ring accomplishments – who cares? He was a man. By most accounts a good man. He has a family that’s been left behind and wasn’t even 50. His death is tragic on every level possible.
On behalf of the entire staff here, I hope he rests in peace and that his family understands how much joy he brought to us – but I ultimately pray they know he loved them.
Thank you, Big Kev. That’s all I can write.
Heart failure at 44 years old. Lessons to be learned for all current MMA fighters I hope.
Best thoughts to his family and his legion of fans.
