Macbeth (2015) Trailer is here to be gawked at and watched as Michael Fassbender plays one of The Bard’s most famous characters. Directed by Justin Kurzel, Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. It was written by some guy named William Shakespeare. No word on if that guy will write anything else of note.
In Macbeth, Fassbender of course plays the origin story of his later character, Magneto from the X-Men franchise. It shows how Macbeth grows from hero to villain. I also didn’t pay attention in lit class. Filmed throughout England and Scotland (i.e., the same place), Macbeth is to be released this October in the UK and December in the United States. Despite the strong cast and decent source material, there has been surprisingly little talk about this blatant attempt to get an Oscar. Which makes sense, what with Spielberg and Tom Hanks deciding they’ll do a WW2 era film, involving Soviet Spies, and a brave man who fights the McCarthy like fear; and Suffragette, which stars Meryl Streep fighting for the rights of women to vote. Yeah, that’ll be a gimmie.
Still, Macbeth is one of the great tragedies of all time. You probably know the story even if you don’t know the story. No word on if it will tie into Assassin‘s Creed but it is expected to do so.
I wonder if we could convince a Scottish king that witches and fate believe he should take down Grown Ups 3…
