I remember when Mortal Kombat first came out. The local pizza place my family went to every Friday night replaced a Street Fighter 2 arcade box with MORTAL KOMBAT. My life changed then and there.
I’d go on to love Killer Instinct (1 not 2 – 2 sucked) as my favorite fighting game of all time but Mortal Kombat pushed that ball down the hill. MK2 might’ve been my favorite non-KI game – and arguably might’ve been better. Hell, I have vivid memories of memorizing every combo and detail of characters for MK3.
This shit defined my life.
They released more than one movie based on these games, and I saw them all, but the soundtrack to Mortal Kombat 1 still reigns supreme. This is that song.
(When I’m one day a success, I will have MK 1, MK2, and KI1 in my Man-Cave basement – mark my words.)
