Outcast is a lovely little comic series from the mind of Robert Kirkman, who had a minor hit with The Walking Dead (which, surprise!, returns tonight). It’s all about a guy with a kind of messed up past who is basically an exorcist. He has a pastor (I don’t believe it’s a priest, just a non-Catholic pastor type) as a buddy who kind of leads him into accepting that he can help people this way. So: he does. There are hints that our protagonist is just that: a protagonist, not an out and out hero. He’s not a bad guy by any means but he’s done some shady stuff in his past, possibly having beaten his ex-wife or child (though a lot of that seems tied into him exorcising demons). The comic has been out for roughly a year now and I’d guess the series follows a similar pace, as we have gotten hints at the future, of a bigger picture, and all that.
