Nick Diaz went before the NSAC today to plea down his previously reported five year ban for possibly using marijuana. Diaz’s suspension will now be 18 months and a $100,000 fine. He’ll be eligible to fight in August. Total speculation on my part but the winner of Hendricks vs Wonderboy would be an ideal fit. I suggest the UFC listen because I’m smart.
Smart observers will note that Diaz went from almost a lifetime ban, to five years, to 18 months. I also say he tries again and gets to fight next week.
The last hearing was a non-stop parade of stupidity wherein Diaz’s lawyers made NSAC look stupid but the commissioners dug in their heels on a Steve Avery-like manner.
This means Diaz is eligible to fight sometime, someday, but he’ll probably fail for weed again because he ALWAYS goes Full Diaz.
In other news, Wanderlei Silva was also expected to have a re-hearing after a district court judge threw out his previous penalty issued by NSAC. This being the NSAC OF COURSE it didn’t happen. Without – apparently – notifying Silva’s attorney in advance, NSAC said his hearing would be delayed Bc there’s a change in athletic commission personnel.
NSAC is the best thing ever.
