Just now Ronda Rousey ESPY win for best fighter took place. She beat out Floyd Mayweather Jr. (And others) She then looked at the camera and said, “I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I’d like to see you pretend you don’t know who I am now.”
I mean, it’s an ESPY. That’s as prestigious as it gets. It’s probably a career highlight for Rousey. Rousey is there to collect said award and promote her August 1 fight against Bethe Correira. She did both and one would image her quip will get her play on TV and news clip shows. It’s weird because even though the ESPYs are … the ESPYs it still somewhT illustrates a slow cultural shift in that boxers always win these things, even when by any objective standard they shouldn’t (said standards being: they fought once and it wasn’t against anyone good). Whether this says something about the UFC or Rousey or both I don’t know but it is something.
Rousey won because last year she fought all of like two minutes and destroyed everyone in her path. I guess there really is a good argument for her being the most dominant fighter in the world male or female. She did everything she could possibly do so good for her.
Good on Ronda. I guess she deserved it.
