Dana White appeared on the very impartial and objective UFC Unfiltered podcast to talk about a bunch of things. One of the things Senor White spoke about was everyone’s favorite fallen star, Ronda Rousey.
Long and short, White thinks she’s done with MMA.
“In the conversation I had with her, if I had to say right here right now – again I don’t like saying right here right now because it’s up to her – but I would’t say she fights again,” White told UFC.com’s “UFC Unfiltered” podcast. “I think she’s probably done.”
Sure, he hedges his bets a bit – all good gamblers do – but that’s a bit of honesty I wasn’t expecting. White thinks Ronda may even go into seclusion and do whatever random things make her happy. I don’t think I buy that one.
That said, Ronda is rich and can thus do what she wants. And maybe she doesn’t want to keep getting the shit kicked out of her by one badass chick after another.
Ronda Rousey Retires?
“She’s going to ride off into the sunset and start living her life outside of fighting,” he said.
“She’s so competitive that her career and record meant everything to her,” he said. “And then once she lost, she started to say to herself, ‘What the (expletive) am I doing? This is my whole life. This is it? I want to experience and start doing other things.’ And I think that’s what she started to do, and she’s got a lot of money. She’s never going to need money again.”
If that’s true, Rousey probably is done. She was famously competitive to a fault and if she’s now at a place in life where she doesn’t feel that drive then she probably won’t be a great fighter. Those are the exact worst kind of thoughts to have when preparing for a sports endeavor, let alone a cage fight. Matt and Mike have discussed this extensively on MMA & STUFF and you should probably check that out for even more thoughts.
