I’m supposed to be mocking things. And using it as a “subtle” way to show how important is free speech. Obviously I’m mostly being childish. This week’s cartoon? I saw it. It felt like there was a way to mock with it but I couldn’t find one. So, I’m just gonna print it as it originally was because it was funny.
Maybe Hobbes is fulfilling the role of the rationalist, pointing out that the manifestation of belief Calvin is displaying is tenuous? Or maybe it’s the opposite: Hobbes represents God and he sees Calvin’s appropriation of a belief system for potential nefarious gain. Calvin is essentially the modern fear of a post-9/11 world, just with a water balloon instead of bomb. Hobbes/God wants this stopped.
YAY CALVIN AND HOBBES!
I’m more of a Locke guy.

This would make more sense if the strip hadn’t stopped running in 1995.
