How did we get here: Robbie Lawler’s and Rory MacDonald’s journey to UFC 189

 

Look, this is the third and final UFC 189 preview video series thing we are doing so you should know how it works.  We did Conor.  We did Chad.  This is Lawler and MacDonald.  I’m throwing them into one “big” UFC 189 preview video docu-drama amazing times thing because they’ve already fought once before and that fight is, ya know, a pretty good preview of what these two will do.  Let’s start with Lawler, because he’s the champion and that’s as good a reason as any.

 

On the biggest night of his life, revisited.  Lawler rematches Hendricks and this time wins the world title.  That’s pretty simple.

 

Now, MacDonald in what is actually maybe the best performance of his career. His early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when he fought Saffiedine, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole fight has a clear, crisp feeling, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the fight a big boost.
