Leonardo Santos vs. Adriano Martins
Lightweight
Round One
They danced around a lot and no one really landed. This is what happened for 15 minutes.
UFC 204 WINNER: SANTOS, dec.
Should You Watch?
Nah.
Danny Roberts vs. Mike Perry
Welterweight
What Happened?
They fought, it was good, Perry won with a big flurry. (I had technical issues with this fight as well.)
UFC 204 WINNER: Perry, KO, R3
Should You Watch?
Sure.
Łukasz Sajewski vs. Marc Diakiese
Lightweight
Round One
- Luke (not Cage) took down Marc right away. The English crowd is booed by this. As am I.
- They stand and then Marc landed a BIG slam. However, it was nullified as Luke stood up himself.
- Marc goes for a heel hook but misses. He then digs a leg kick.
Round Two
- All standing. Marc with some good punches halfway through.
- Really picking his spots here. Just blatantly throwing his right hand as he sees fit.
- Luke is out on his feet. He’s getting pounded over and over here. This should be stopped. And it is.
UFC 204 WINNER: Marc, R2, TKO
Should You Watch?
Yeah. I liked the violent parts.
Leon Edwards vs. Albert Tumenov
Welterweight
Round One
- Edwards got a takedown, a hard-fought one at that!
- Nothing happened. They’re up. Then down.
- I’m sorry for the poor bastards in England who are seeing this shit live at like 2 am.
Round Two
- Edwards vying for the takedown again. Not getting it.
- They’re circling and jabbing and people are silent, as is their way.
- Albert lands a big punch that snaps the head back (and to the left).
- Then the round ended with nothing.
Round Three
- It’s down. Edwards has the back. Choke? CHOKE!!!
UFC 204 WINNER: Edwards, R3, sub
Should You Watch?
The last round, yes.
Damian Stasiak vs. Davey Grant
Bantamweight
Grant has THE most English sounding name ever…
What Happened?
This fight happened. Stasiak had much better BJJ, hitting a number of sweeps, getting mount, and so on. Grant was avoiding them. Then Grant turned it on in the 2nd, taking over. BUT! Finally, in the third, Stasiak is on his back and locks in an armbar. And torques it. HARD AS FUCK! Finally, Grant taps and this was one of the sickest armbars of all time.
UFC 204 WINNER: Stasiak, R3, sub
Should You Watch?
Yeah, especially the finish.
Ian Entwistle vs. Rob Font
Iuri Alcântara vs. Brad Pickett
Bantamweight
What Happened?
HOLY SHIT BALLS! Pickett got NAILED by a spinning back fist to the temple. Follow up punches dropped him. Mount. Mounted triangle attempt, then into an armbar, roll through for another armbar, transition to triangle. TAP!
UFC 204 WINNER: Alcantara, R1, sub
Should You Watch?
OH. HELL. YEAH. This was fucking incredible.
Mirsad Bektic vs. Russell Doane
Featherweight
What Happened?
- Bektic gets it down. Has the back. Choke… TAP! That was easy.
UFC 204 WINNER: Bektic, R1, sub
Should You Watch?
Yeah. That was something else.
Daniel Omielańczuk vs. Stefan Struve
Heavyweight
What Happened?
- Struve dominated the first round. Take down, mount, back control, threatening choke but not getting it.
- 2nd round, Struve with a throw, latches on a d’Arce choke. Tap!
UFC 204 WINNER: Struve, R2, sub
Should You Watch?
Yes. This was a fun fight between a man and a walking monster.
Ovince Saint Preux vs. Jimi Manuwa
Light Heavyweight
What Happened
- First round was mostly just a back and forth grappling match, if you can believe it.
- In round two, Manuwa lands a right hand that killed OSP dead. He then took his time, feinted, threw one more punch, and OSP was out and dead doing the CroCop leg behind gimmick.
UFC 204 WINNER: Manuwa, R2, KO
Should You Watch?
Yes. A man died on screen a hundred deaths.
Vitor Belfort vs. Gegard Mousasi
Middleweight
What Happened?
- They felt each other out in the first, though it was clear that Gegard was finding his distance better.
- In the 2nd, Gegard killed him. He landed a kick to the head which he followed up by unleashing a flurry of punches ala Prime Vitor. He tossed Belfort, pounded, mounted, mounted, finished.
UFC 204 WINNER: Mousasi, R2, TKO
Should You Watch?
FO SHO!
Michael Bisping (c) vs. Dan Henderson
UFC Middleweight Championship
What Happened
- First round, Bisping is all over Henderson. Total domination, coming close to a finish then OUT OF NO WHERE DAN LANDS A HUGE RIGHT HAND OF DEATH!!!!!!!!! He followed it with a flying fist drop. SOOOOOO close to a repeat.
- Round Two, the same as the first with Bisping out pointing Dan from a distance and then DAN LANDS AGAIN!!!!!!!!! Bisping survives somehow.
- Third round, it was all Bisping jabbing, kicking, landing from a distance.
- Fourth and fifth followed the third round. It was dramatic as hell as you knew Henderson could land at any time.
- He never did.
- Then, with 2 seconds to go, Dan Henderson did a rolling front kick. And that was the last thing he ever did in a fight.
UFC 204 WINNER: Michael Bisping, dec.
Should You Watch?
Oh HELL yeah. This was an amazing fight.
