Rashad Evans is out. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion had an issue with his pre-fight medicals. Evans was to make his middleweight debut against Tim Kennedy (who was once in Army).
There is not news on what the issue was with his medical exam but it must not have been that serious. Reports are that the fight could be moved to UFC 206, which takes place in just a few weeks.
While normally a fight of this caliber being pulled from a card just days before the show is devastating, realistically the bout was barely the second or third most important fight on the FS1 Prelims, such is the depth of UFC 205.
The sucks for Evans as the New York native obviously was excited to be fighting in Madison Square Garden. If more news is reported, we’ll make sure to just kinda half-ass parrot it here.
