As one of our regular and most popular features, it is our duty to bring to you all our UFC Brazil Video Preview for the HOW DID WE GET HERE? series. Uh, we show you a bunch of the fights from guys on the card and sometimes make a comment or two about them. It’s actually fun and informative because how can you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been? You could end up where you’ve already been and then wouldn’t have anywhere new. That’s no fun.
Oh, yeah, the main-event is a rematch so I guess we kinda are going where we’ve already been. Twice. Whatever. You see her?
You could go there more than once and be happy, right? Of course you could. Belfort vs. Henderson 3 is the same principle. First up, the first time these two went at it. It was in PRIDE – but the fight was in Vegas so it was under basically UFC rules. Of note: after this fight, Belfort failed for steroids. Also of note: during this fight, Dan Henderson was using TRT as one of the early adopters of TUEs in Vegas. But, it’s only Vitor that is a cheat, remember that kids…
Hey, they fought again. Different result. Better result because it wasn’t ass boring to watch!
Basically, fight one was Dan wrestling Vitor down, Vitor getting a couple of OK sweeps, Vitor doing his best Weird Vitor Moment and randomly pulling guard. Two? Vitor blasts Dan right away and hurls down boulders from heaven.
What to expect in the third fight? Well, first, listen to THIS. It’s broken down in more detail there. Otherwise, Dan’s different these days in that he doesn’t do much lay and pray. He’s more likely to look for his big overhand right. Vitor is basically the same: lots of talent but sometimes doesn’t always show it. At least this time they’re drug free, I guess.
Oh, and Henderson if 45 years old. Yeah, that’s not good. Bless him but that’s an old age to be fighting a style where your game is hit them harder than they hit you. We’ll have the weigh-ins later today, obviously. And the second by second recap of the fights tomorrow. Because we are nicer and kinder than everyone who ever lived. Also: we get bored. And sometimes I write in the third person for no reason. I’d give grammar teachers fits of rage but I like to think I’m so great I’ve surpassed grammar.
