And thus the UFC continued its slide into stupid.
The UFC, a company purchased for many many billions of dollars, is going to have another new champion. Swear to fuck this is true.
UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion, Germaine de Randamie, has been stripped of her belt. Yes, the very same belt she won just this past February, in the first ever women’s FW title fight. The same belt that’s never been defended. The same belt that runs a division that I’m not sure actually exists, as I can’t recall any other fights at 145 involving women inside the octagon. I’m sure there was one. Maybe. Possibly.
This allows the UFC to now make the Cyborg vs Megan Anderson fight in July for the strap. Holy awesome joke times, batman.
Look, you people, no one thought de Randamie was really the best in the world. We all knew this thing was created just for Lady Cyborg. Fine. And I get that if she truly won’t fight Cyborg there does come a tipping point. But … for fuck’s sake. Not wanting to fight a known steroid cheater – someone who is a legit danger in the cage because of those drugs – isn’t unreasonable.
I don’t think it’ll happen but if there was ever a fighter with a case for suing a company for not looking out for a fighter’s health and safety, this is it.
And. Yeah. That basically blackballs Cyborg. Which sucks for her, if you’re here, but … she’s a scary dangerous cheater!

This is the UFC’s official stance on the matter:
UFC has informed Germaine de Randamie and her management team that she is being removed as the women’s featherweight champion due to her unwillingness to fight the No. 1 ranked contender, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino,” the promotion said in a statement. “Subsequently, top contender Justino will face newly signed Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson for the UFC women’s featherweight title in the co-main event of UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2, July 29 in Anaheim, Calif.
“UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport.
This is the now former champ’s response:
Germaine and her team have talked, and the position is that she will not fight Cyborg because Cyborg is a known and proven cheater,” de Randamie’s manager Brian Butler told MMA Fighting. “Even after so much scrutiny has been put on Cyborg, she still managed to pop for something and will always be a person of suspicion who is trying to beat the system rather than just conforming to the rules.
“For that reason, Germaine and her team don’t believe that Cyborg should be allowed to compete in the UFC at all. If that is the only fight the UFC wants, then Germaine is willing to wait and see if the UFC will strip her belt before making her next move.”
She’s right.
