Bless, Vitor Belfort’s dad: the man has horrible timing. (Almost) in the wake of yesterday’s news that Yoel Romero had provisionally failed an out of competition drug test, for whatever reason Belfort’s dad said he’d love to see his son face Romero on a show in Brazil. In an interview with Sherdog this past Monday, the former UFC LightHeavyweight Champion and multiple time PED user’s dad said the following:
“I think a fight against Yoel Romero would be great… No doubt it could be a dangerous fight for Vitor, but I would love to see that clash of styles.”
My guess is that he would probably like to take back those remarks at this time. That said: in two years, go for it!
What makes this even better is that Belfort just left the Blackzillians, who are rivals with ATT. Belfort is going to stay in the area and apparently his new house is close to the ATT camp! But, the man who was once the prize student of Carlson Gracie Sr. won’t be joining ATT, says his dad. That’s too bad. Because if there’s one thing that would make ATT even better it’s having another drug using cheat!
Belfort currently trains at OTB. No word on if Pete Rose is a sparring partner.
