Wonders will never cease to amaze that within my lifetime – for I am a young man – Robert Downey Jr. did blackface for a major movie. And got an Oscar nomination for it too! Of course, he was amazing in it because he’s amazing in everything.
No joke, there is legit talk of a sequel to the movie too, so I’m pumped for that. Why am I pumped? Because of this clip:
Tropic Thunder: What Do You Mean, “You People”?
For those that don’t know, and mostly so I can pad the word count of this* thing, this is what his character is doing: he is an Australian actor who is prepping to play a black actor and so he dons black face in order to totally immerse himself in the role, ala Daniel Day Lewis in … everything he does. Of course, this is all RDJJr. playing it, so it’s really an American pretending to be an Australian who is pretending to be a black American.
Him being nominated is an example of white privilege; him not winning is an example of the Power of Hollywood’s Jews.
I hope you enjoyed this brief respite from your life. I know it was only a few words, an attempt to hawk a t-shirt, and a clip from a movie you’ve probably already seen – but this is the Internet: we all got together and decided to only communicate via reference to something someone else said. We are a generation of poets talking with memes.
*me laughing at something on YouTube and wanted to sharing it with others – I’m full of love
that movie sucked. 21st century American comedy movies are hot garbage
